Treatment Options:
Sex Addiction Treatment – Dr Birchard created the first UK based treatment programme for the treatment of sex addiction. It is a directed programme of behavioural change. It has been adapted by many therapists to use in their own treatment programmes.
It has twelve sessions. Outcome studies have been done and these studies are evidence of its effectiveness. It can be delivered individually or in a group format. Group work is normally preferred for it has better outcomes.
Psychosexual Problems – Dr Birchard is trained to work with a range of sexual problems. Erectile dysfunction, early ejaculation and delayed ejaculation present most frequently. Sometimes people need help in navigating their way through questions of sexual orientation. Please note that we are opposed to all forms of discrimination and oppression of non-heterosexual people.

Individual Therapy – The Centre specialises in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy but additionally is supported by Integrative and Psychosexual Therapy. The CBT sessions are time limited but the time given is need dependent.

Couples Work – The centre offers general couples work as well as Behavioural Couples Work. The latter is a twelve-session programme. It is evidence based. Where the problems in the couple relationship centre around sexual issues, a psychosexual perspective is brought to bear.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder – The centre has specialists who work with OCD and use a range of treatment approaches.

Depression and Anxiety Disorders – We use CBT to treat depression and all anxiety disorders. This is a time-limited process and normally runs between six and twenty sessions.

Quirky Sexual Patterns – Some people have sexual patterns that are socially disapproved or cause the individual to feel extremely uncomfortable. These patterns may, or may not, be associated with an addictive pattern of behaviour. Dr Birchard specialises in working with clients who are concerned about such sexual patterns.

Internet Offending – The centre works with men who have fallen into offending behaviours. We can recommend competent lawyers to sort out the legal side of the problems. Our focus is to provide mechanisms to stop any further recurrence of the problem.
